"What if every discovery you missed this year wasn't a miss? What if there was a system that watches the entire open-source ecosystem — every commit, every fork, every abandoned project that's about to resurface — and tells you before everyone else?"

Seven things that matter
No bloat. No dashboards with 47 tabs. Just the signal you need, fast.
Velocity Scoring
Not stars. Not forks. A composite score that tracks real momentum — commits, contributor growth, issue velocity, and trajectory over time.
🔭
Rising Project Detection
Identifies projects accelerating before they trend. The signal that separates "I found it early" from "I read about it on HN."
💰
SaaS Unbundling
Type any paid tool. Get the open-source alternative that's actually good. Maps 160+ SaaS categories to free replacements that are production-ready.
🧬
Technology DNA
See exactly what a project is built with — languages, frameworks, dependencies — and compare it against alternatives in the same vertical.
📊
Vertical Intelligence
Hundreds of curated categories from "state management" to "edge computing" — each with ranked alternatives, comparative data, and ecosystem context.

Questions worth answering
Is this just another awesome list?
No. Awesome lists are curated by humans with opinions. Openlysts is scored by data — commit velocity, contributor growth, issue resolution rates, and trajectory. It's the difference between someone telling you a stock is "good" and seeing the earnings report.
How does the scoring work?
The Velocity Score is a composite of six signals: commit frequency, contributor growth rate, issue close velocity, fork-to-star ratio, dependency adoption, and recency weight. It's designed to catch momentum before it becomes popularity.
Can I self-host it?
Yes. Clone the repo, run npm install, npm run dev. The full catalog engine runs locally. The database is PostgreSQL — connect to your own instance and you're running your own intelligence platform.
What's the API like?
RESTful JSON endpoints with JSON-LD structured data. Search, browse by category, get alternatives, fetch trending data, and access the full catalog. No API key required for the public instance.
Why does this exist?
Because most developer tools solve a problem you already have. Openlysts solves one you didn't know you had yet — knowing what's worth your attention before everyone else does. Built by one engineer who got tired of missing things.
